EXPRESSING LOSS
THROUGH
ART

A LIFETIME OF HEALING

Its Grief that started my art journey.

Painting allows me to channel that grief into

something tangible.

My work comes from emotion. I pour my emotions into the pages of my sketchbook, then push that further in order to create depth and meaning to each finished piece.

So weather your on the hunt for some original art, looking for inspiration to take your own art to the next level, or wanting to paint for the very first time. Have a browse through my website and sign up to my newsletter HERE for studio updates and exclusive tips. I get immense joy from seeing people create a piece of artwork they're proud to show.

Can art empower people to express their feelings about loss?

Have we lost the art of grieving?

Why is talking about death so taboo and can art help break the taboo?

Sonia is a contemporary mixed-media artist based in West Sussex and holds various workshops and courses.

Her mixed media workshops explore a colourful range of subjects covering mark making, layering and the dynamics of colour and texture.

Her large abstract paintings are known for their texture and layering techniques.  They have been exhibited widely throughout the South East and featured in a number of publications.

After receiving her diploma at Farnham University for the Creative Arts, Sonia went on to work as an interior designer for 10 years alongside developing her own style of painting. Now a full time artist she has become involved in various art groups throughout Sussex.

A FEW KIND WORDS FROM ONE OF MY
SUMMER WORKSHOPS...

IMG_6477.jpg

I have attended two of Sonia's

Workshops and both times I found her teaching style exceptional.

Sonia demonstrates how to prepare

your canvas and while waiting for

that to dry, shows you how to use the sketchbook she provides to start

planning your finished piece.

Sonia demonstrates different

techniques and has a variety of

materials for you to use.

She allows you to develop your

own style whilst being constructive

in her support.

Using my imagination to conjure up

a piece of abstract art did not

come naturally to me as I usually

use photos for landscapes

of portraits but once I

let myself go, I felt free to explore

new ways, and Sonia was very encouraging.
